The FAU Dance Team performs at various functions such as football and basketball games as well as fundraisers for the FAU Alumni and Pep Rallies.

Since 1997 the team has competed with NDA and has participated in the NCA Danz camp held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During camp, teams receive bids to compete in the April competition held in Daytona Beach. However, for the past 3 years the team has held private camps with choreographer Tony Gonzalez. In 2001, the team was ranked 10th in the nation in Division 1 Dance and is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in Division Open Dance with NDA. The team attended their annual competition held in Daytona Beach, FL on April 7, 2005 and took 2nd in the nation! Congratulations FAU Dancers!!!

FALL AUDITIONS:
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH FROM 6PM-8:30PM IN THE FAU GYMNASIUM. YOU MUST ATTEND THE ENTIRE TIME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE TEAM. YOU MUST COME PREPARED WITH A ROUTINE (ABOUT 1 MINUTE). THIS ROUTINE CAN BE ANY STYLE AND CAN INCLUDE ANY TECHNICAL ELEMENTS YOU FEEL WILL BE EXECUTED ACCURATELY. MATERIAL WILL NOT BE TAUGHT TO YOU AND YOU WILL BE INFORMED THAT EVENING IF YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN FOR THE TEAM. ALL DANCERS TRYING OUT MUST ALREADY BE AN FAU STUDENT OR ACCEPTED TO THE UNIVERSITY FOR THE FALL SEMESTER. PBCC STUDENTS MAY ALSO AUDITION, HOWEVER MUST BE ENROLLED IN A MINIMUM OF 9 FAU CREDIT HOURS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE TEAM. DURING AUDITIONS EACH DANCER WILL BE ASKED TO EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS: TOE TOUCH, SWITCH LEAP, DOUBLE AND TRIPLE TURNS, AXLE TURN AND A TURN SEQUENCE WITH A MINIMUM OF 5 REVOLUTIONS. WHAT IS THE COST TO BE A PART OF THE FAU DANCE TEAM?

The costs to be on the team are minimal and vary each year. The only items you may be asked to contribute to or purchase entirely are jazz shoes, makeup for competition and/or camp fees. The coaching staff will advise the team at the beginning of the season of what fees will be associated with the upcoming season.
