It Can't Be Over?

This was by far the most successful season of our history. I am not talking about the wins or losses or all the records that this team set. I am not talking about winning streaks or consecutive minutes without giving up a goal. I am not talking about co-champions of the Atlantic Sun regular season. I am talking about the growth of a team and the character of the individuals making up the team.

This team came together because of incredible leadership from many players. The individual put the team first in every instance of conflict. Players worked hard in training and prepared for every game. The personalities on this team made every day a fun day to be around them. It was truly a team where the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts. It was truly a privilege to be the coach of this team. It was also the most enjoyable season of my life. This team has set the standard for all future teams at FAU. I am not talking about the wins or losses, just the total package.

Although our loss in the conference tournament was distasteful, the team will grow and become stronger form the experience. We learned that you couldn't take anything for granted and that mistakes can cost you more than you realize. Even if those mistakes are not made by anyone on the team! The experience gained from this season will make us all stronger and more committed to the goals we set each year. I will remember this team for the rest of my career and I truly thank each player for the effort and dedication they have given to FAU soccer. Having said that, I can't wait for next year.
