For the first time in program history, a Florida Atlantic University volleyball player has been tabbed Player-of-the-Year. Junior, Iana Andonova received the honor on Wednesday as the Atlantic Sun Conference released its All-Conference Awards. Junior Makra Condill earned Libero-of-the-Year, while Kelly Paiva and Cayse Kaveny were both named Second-Team All-Conference.

Andonova, from Margate, Fla., led the Atlantic Sun with 4.43 kills per game and a .344 hitting percentage. The junior middle blocker also earned first team honors last year and was named the A-Sun Freshman-of-the-Year in 2002. Andonova holds the FAU single-season record for kill with 461 and is 76 shy of the career record.

After compiling an FAU season-record 466 digs during the regular season, Condill was named the Libero-of-the-Year. The Crystal Lake, IL native averaged 4.48 digs per game and had two matches with 30 or more digs.

Leading the Owls with 16 double-doubles this year, Kelly Paiva picked up Second Team honors. The junior from Minas Gerais, Brazil was second on the squad with 385 kills and third with 301 digs. She also tallied 24 service aces and 49 blocks from the left side.

Another middle blocker, Cayse Kaveny picked up her first All-Conference honor after she finished the season with 95 blocks and is ranked sixth in FAU single-season block assists. She also closed out the regular season with 360 kills in her senior season.

FAU (21-6) heads into the Atlantic Sun Tournament on Friday as the no. 1 seed. The Owls claimed the regular season title by posting a 9-1 record in conference play. Florida Atlantic will face the winner of #4 JU/#5 UCF on Friday at 4:30 pm with the winner advancing to the championship match on Saturday at 1 pm. The final match will air tape-delayed on Sunshine Network on Saturday at 11 pm et.
