Andonova Named A-Sun Player-of-the-Week
Sept. 20, 2004 After leading the team to a 3-0 week, Florida Atlantic University's Iana Andonova has been named the Atlantic Sun Player-of-the-Week by the conference office. With wins over Bethune-Cookman, Lehigh and Stetson the team extends its winning streak to five. A member of the 2003 A-Sun All-Conference First-Team, Andonova (Margate, FL) averaged 5.33 kills and 0.78 service aces per game last week and finished with a .387 hitting percentage. She picked up at least 15 kills in each of the three matches and finished with a 17 kill performance against Bethune-Cookman and only committed one error for a .615 hitting percentage. After her outstanding performance, Andonova leads the team with 91 kills (4.55 kills/game) and 16 service aces. She currently ranks first in the A-Sun with 4.55 kills per game and 0.80 service aces per game. Her .291 hitting percentage ranks her third in the league. The junior currently has 91 career services aces which moved her into 10th place on FAU's career list. The Owls return to action at the UNC-Greensboro Invitational on Friday with matches against Memphis and Morgan State.
