Final Stats

Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team closed out the Atlantic Sun Conference season on Saturday afternoon with a win over East Tennessee State University 30-28, 30-25, 21-30, 30-23. The Owls earn the no. 1 seed at the A-Sun Tournament after finishing undefeated in the conference. FAU honored its seniors, Makra Condill, Krista Klawitter Lauren McHugh, Kelly Paiva and Dimitra Samas in the final home match of the year.

Due to damage on the FAU campus, the match took place at Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton. After all of the distractions, FAU settled down to tie game one at 14 after a nine-point run behind the serving of Dimitra Samas. Samas finished the match with a career-high five service aces and the team served aggressively to finish with 14 aces.

With the game tied at 28 Katie Arvidson recorded two straight kills to close out game one despite FAU only hitting .094 in the game.

"The first game of the match set the pace," said head coach Jody Brown. "Anytime that you have senior day it is a blessing to win the first game."

FAU (26-2, 9-0 A-Sun) ran with the momentum and never trailed in game two before the Bucs found their offense in game three. With the game tied at 17, Sarah Buhr recorded one of her 11 kills before serving two service aces and ETSU (17-12, 3-6 A-Sun) went on a 13-4 run to take its first game of the match. Buhr finished with six aces in the match.

After the loss, FAU rebounded by hitting .325 in game four to win its 26th match of the season. The mark breaks the program record originally set in 1988 with a 25-20 record.

Paiva led the way for FAU 24 kills and finished with a double-double by adding 11 digs. Libero, Condill closed out the match with 15 digs.

FAU will play UCF on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 pm in a make up game. The match will be the final one of the season for the Owls before heading to the Atlantic Sun Tournament in Nashville, TN on Nov. 18-19.
