Volleyball Downed on Senior Night

Nov. 5, 2002

Final Stats

In their final home match of the season, Florida Atlantic University honored its seniors but did not send them off with much to cheer about as Florida International spoiled the party with a three-game win, 30-19, 30-18, 30-26. Senior Jessica Kahn led the team with two block assists while Kari Dailey finished with a team-high .417 hitting percentage.

Oksana Zablueva controlled the match for FIU as she posted a match-high 17 kills and only committed one error on her way to a .667 hitting percentage. She also posed problems from the back row as she tallied seven service aces.

The Owls were at a disadvantage without senior starter Danyielle Smith, who did not play due to an elbow injury. FAU did not lead until the third game when they tied the game at 20. But FIU then went on a 10-6 run to finish the match.

Florida Atlantic was led by Abby Miner with 14 kills. Kahn and Iana Andonova both added 10 as the Owls collected 45 kills. Miner also collected a match-high nine digs for FAU.

Florida Atlantic University will play Stetson on November 16 as they gear up for the Atlantic Sun Tournament hosted by UCF on November 22-23. The Owls will enter the tournament as the no. 3 seed but final pairings are yet to be set.
