FAU Volleyball Snaps Four Game Losing Streak

Nov. 1, 2001

Final Stats

Ashley Bodily, a senior from Freemont, CA, marked the night with her 1,000th career kill by posting eight kills and a .231 average in a three-game conference victory over Stetson University. The Lady Owls disposed of the Hatters for the second time this season in quick fashion 30-20, 30-23, 30-20.

After starting the season with a 5-0 record in the Atlantic Sun conference, the Lady Owls dropped the next three matches to conference foes. FAU knew that a win was important against the Hatters to give them a chance for a third seed in the A-Sun tournament.

Florida Atlantic (9-13, 6-3 A-Sun) came out strong against Stetson and posted a .333 hitting percentage in game one behind the attack of Danyielle Smith (Seminole, FL) who led the team with 13 kills in the match.

Michelle Landa stepped in as the starting setter for the second time this season and dispersed the ball well as FAU had eight players hit over .200. Landa tallied 39 assists in the match.

Ashley Bodily was able to add 12 digs to go with her record setting 1000th career-kill. She is only the fifth player in FAU history to earn this honor.

Alicia Schaper tried to rally Stetson (8-16, 1-8 A-Sun) as she posted nine kills and 13 digs to lead the home team.

Florida Atlantic will play their final conference game Saturday against visiting Troy State University at 2 pm.
