FAU Falls to Arkansas State 3-1

Oct. 22, 2006

Final Stats

Kaila Janssen posted a double-double for Florida Atlantic University but the effort could not propel the Owls to a win over Arkansas State University. FAU suffered a 3-1 (27-30, 30-26, 22-30, 19-30) loss to fall to 7-15, 4-8 SBC, while ASU improved to 16-11, 7-4 SBC.

The Owls struggled in the start and only hit. 069 in game one before rebounding in game two to hit .225 and even the match at one game each. The Lady Indians quickly turned things around and hit .389 and .370 in the final two games to take the match behind a 16 block effort. Robin Aaron finished with nine blocks for ASU.

Justine Petry and Katie Arvidson finished with five blocks for the Owls, while Janssen led the team with 16 digs and 11 kills. Fellow freshmen, Krystena Castro also finished with 11 kills and a .292 hitting percentage. Casey LaRocca dished out 40 assists.

Randilyne Volkmer led Arkansas State with 21 kills, while Erin Neeled recorded a match-high 18 digs.

The Owls return home next week for a three-match home stretch. The top two-teams in the conference, Middle Tennesse and Western Kentucky visit Boca Raton on Friday and Saturday before Florida Atlantic hosts its final non-conference match of the season against UCF on November 1.
