DENTON, TX - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team lost to North Texas in three games (21-30, 23-30, 27-30) on Sunday.

The Owls (6-12, 3-5 Sun Belt) once again got out to fast start, earning themselves a 4-0 in game one behind the serving of Casey LaRocca. North Texas answered with a 10-3 run to take the lead. FAU managed a rally of its own to tie the game at 11. The two teams were locked in a 13-13 tie when the Mean Green launched a 14-6 run that helped propel them to a 30-21 win.

The Mean Green got out to a huge 20-7 lead in game two behind two extended service runs and were seemingly on their way to an easy victory. The Owls rallied and pulled within five points at 27-22 before North Texas took three of the next four points to close out the game for a 2-0 lead.

Game three started out as a back and forth affair as both teams vied for control. Kendall Utz was able stake FAU to a 15-9 lead behind her serve as the Owls sought to avoid the sweep. North Texas tied the game at 20 behind the strength of an11-5 scoring run. The game would be tied four more times, the last deadlock coming at 27, before three straight points gave the Mean Green a 30-27 match-sealing win.

The Owls return to Boca Raton for a season-long four match homestand. They will be back in action on Thursday when they host Sun Belt Western Division foe Middle Tennessee. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
