FAU On A Roll In The A-Sun

Oct. 7, 2001

Final Stats

Florida Atlantic University (6-9, 3-0) was able to continue their winning ways in the Atlantic Sun conference with a 3-1 win over Belmont University (3-9, 0-2). Three Lady Owls recorded double-doubles en route to the 31-29, 24-30, 30-26, 30-21 win.

FAU almost let the first game slip by as they trailed 27-25 late in the game. But a service error by the Bruins opened the door for the Lady Owls and Danyielle Smith (Seminole, FL) capitalized on the error and put away two of her 13 kills on the way to her second double-double in as many matches.

Florida Atlantic again found themselves behind in games three and four but aggressive attacking enabled the Lady Owls to come through with the win. Five players tallied double-digit kills, while three of them compiled double-doubles. Ashley Bodily (Freemont, CA) led FAU with her fifth double-double of the season, 15 kills and 14 digs.

FAU will travel to Alabama next weekend as they play A-Sun members Jacksonville State on Friday and Samford on Saturday.
