Volleyball Opens Conference Season with a Win

In the conference opener in Nashville, TN, Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team defeated Belmont University 3-1. Jeana Boyle posted a double-double for the Owls with a season-high 52 assists and a game-high 13 digs as FAU downed the Bruins 30-16, 30-27, 28-30, 30-18.

Iana Andonova (Margate, FL) led FAU (6-9, 1-0) with 16 kills and a .480 hitting percentage to go along with five blocks. Freshman Janelle Sarauw (St. Thomas, V.I.) added five blocks for the Owls as the team outblocked the Bruins 10-5.

Florida Atlantic posted its highest hitting percentage of the season with a .353 hitting percentage. Four hitters posted double-digit kills. Andonova, Sarauw, Abby Miner and Cayse Kaveny each hit over .320.

Belmont (0-12, 0-1) was led by Lindsay Cleveland with 14 kills, while Jodi Weeber posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.

FAU will remain in Nashville to play A-Sun foe Lipscomb on Saturday at 3 pm.
