Volleyball Remains Undefeated in Conference Play

Sept. 28, 2002

Final Stats

In Florida Atlantic University's second conference match in as many days, the Owls were able to sweep Jacksonville State University 30-21, 30-26, 30-20. With the win, FAU remains undefeated in conference play and improves to 7-10, 2-0 A-Sun on the year. JSU falls to 5-9, 0-2 A-Sun.

FAU dominated the match as the Gamecocks only led once. In the second game a kill by Alison Wright gave JSU the 2-1 advantage. Florida Atlantic quickly took the lead back at 3-2 after two consecutive JSU attacking errors.

Jacksonville State made a run in the game behind the aggressive serving of Sara Tognetti. After falling behind 25-15, the visitors went on an 11-5 run to make game two a nail-biter. The Gamecocks finally fell 30-26.

FAU tied its season-high 11 service aces in the match. Lauren McHugh (Lighthouse Point, FL) and Abby Miner (Largo, FL) both recorded three for the Owls.

Defensively, Jeana Boyle (Boca Raton, FL) led FloridaAtlantic with 10 digs. The junior added 30 assists to record her fifth double-double of the season.

Jennifer Brenneman recorded 10 kills and 14 digs for JSU.

Florida Atlantic will travel to Orlando to take on the 2001 A-Sun Champion, University of Central Florida, at 7 pm on Tuesday.
