The second night of the Golden Bear Classic in Berkeley, CA saw the Rice Owls (4-3) take it to the Florida Atlantic University (0-6) Owls in three games, 23-30, 25-30, 21-30. FAU was able to out block Rice six to four but only hit .057 for the match.

The Lady Owls were not able to capitalize on offense as they had more attempts than their oppoenent and only one less kill, but attacking errors hurt the Lady Owls. Rice held a .153 hitting percentage versus .057 for FAU.

Gracie Heim found a way to beat the Rice defense and put away 11 kills, while fellow middle blocker Jessica Kahn followed with seven kills and three blocks. Jeana Boyle scored on three service aces and had a match-high 28 assists bringing her season total to 181.

FAU plays IUPUI in Boca Raton on Thursday at 7:00 pm before hosting the FAU Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
