,,,Florida Atlantic University (0-5) fell to the University of California (3-1) in the first game of the Golden Bear Classic in Berkeley, California, 19-30, 28-30, 20-30. Ashley Bodily, a California native, finished the match with a team-high eight kills. Kari Dailey scored for FAU on four service aces.

Florida Atlantic put up a fight in the second and third games before the Bears posted a comeback. In game two, FAU led 26-23 before California gained confidence and finished off the game 30-28.

Game three was more of the same as FAU was leading 20-14. Jessica Zatica then entered the game for California and used aggressive serving to take control of the march. She scored on three service aces to give the Bears the win.

Marja Valkeavuori tallied 12 digs on the night increasing her season total to 48. Valkeavuori and Gracie Heim both recorded two blocks in the three games.
