Volleyball Stopped by Eastern Michigan

Sept. 6, 2002

Final Stats

Florida Atlantic University traveled to the Montana State Mizuno/Holiday Inn Classic to take on Eastern Michigan University. FAU (2-4) out-blocked the Eagles (3-1) 5 to 3 but fell in three games.

FAU's first four points of the match came off of EMU attacking errors before an Abby Minor kill tied the game at five. The Owls never led in the game but brought it within 13-11 with a Lauren McHugh ace, the only ace of the night. Giovana Milaneze collected three of her team-high eight kills in game one as the team only mustered a .100 hitting percentage in the opening game compared to EMU's .389 to finish it off 30-19.

The Eagles were held in check in game two as FAU took their first lead of the match at 8-7 on a Milaneze kill. The teams traded points and the Owls led for the final time at 15-14 on a Jessica Kahn kill in the middle before the Eagle offense created havoc for the Owl defense.

The offense disappeared in game three as both teams hit under .100. EMU's setter, Camila Olaio, took advantage of FAU's stay defense and found the hole in the middle as she dumped the ball to collect six kills and a .444 average to go with 39 assists.

FAU will play two games on Saturday in Bozeman as they take on Gonzaga and Montana State at noon at 7:30 pm Mountain Time.
