Final Stats

No. 15 Kansas State University (3-2) needed four games to defeat Florida Atlantic University Saturday afternoon at the FSU Invitational (30-17, 30-27, 27-30, 30-21). FAU got a slow start in the match but picked up momentum to pull out a game-three win.

The Owls led the Wildcats by seven at 20-13 in game two but saw KSU block two FAU attacks and Lauren Goehring added two of her match-high 14 kills as Kansas State tied the game at 23. The teams traded points before another Goehring kill broke a 27-27 tie and allowed KSU to take the game.

FAU (0-3) took an early 12-8 advantage in game three before the two teams went neck and neck. Jeana Boyle and Cayse Kaveny picked up one of FAU's five blocks to break a 25-25 tie and give FAU the advantage it needed to take game three as Giovana Milaneze (Sao Paulo, Brazil) picked up a kill from the right side. The senior finished with a team-leading .438 hitting percentage.

In the final game, the Owls ran out of steam as the Wildcats led wire to wire.

Iana Andonova (Margate, FL) led FAU with 11 kills, while Abby Miner finished with double-digit digs to lead the squad for the second consecutive match with 16.

"We started to get comfortable with each other and I was really happy with the way we played," stated head coach Jody Brown. "Our blocking and defense definitely got better as we progressed."
