FAU Athletics Reaches Out to Community
Members of the Florida Atlantic University softball and volleyball teams recently volunteered to help the needs of others in the local community.
The softball team, after returning from a six-day road trip to Louisiana, helped members of an after-school program at the Boynton Beach YMCA by tutoring children with their schoolwork, and speaking about the importance of exercise and good sportsmanship. The team also participated in several games with the children, who ranged in age from 6 to 10, and signed autographs. |

Volleyball Team Wins Beach Tournament
Florida Atlantic University's women's volleyball team captured the inaugural Commissioner's Cup as the champions of the Division I Florida Invitational Beach Volleyball Tournament in Siesta Key held April 19.
"We played really well considering that the girls only had a couple of chances to practice as a team before the actual tournament," said Jody Brown, FAU volleyball head coach. "The tournament was excellent. It was a quality event. The level of play was even higher than I expected. We had a lot of interest from people who were on the beach." |
