Women's Tennis Wins TAAC Quarterfinal

MACON, GA - Florida Atlantic University defeated Stetson University, 4-2, Friday night in a quarterfinal match at the Trans America Athletic Conference Championship in Macon, GA. The win improves the Lady Owls to 12-10 on the season and sets up a semifinal match with top-seeded Troy State. FAU entered the tournament as the fourth-seed. FAU fell behind 1-0 after Stetson claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. FAU came back to take four of the first five singles matches to claim the 4-2 victory. Kristen Jordan, ranked 78th nationally, secured one of those victories by defeating Stetson's Analia Longoni 6-1, 6-1 at no. 1. Other winners for FAU included Maria Aguirre-Gomez at no. 2 after Stetson's Lindsey Wyeth withdrew during the match due to injury, Tania Rivera at no. 3, who defeated Claudia Meza 6-2, 6-1. Jessica Burrow posted the other victory, a 7-5, 6-0 win over Julie Dougherty at no. 6. The no. 4 match between FAU's Stephanie Beaulieu and Stetson's Svenga Fleischhacker did not finish.
Florida Atlantic will take on TSU Saturday morning at 10:00am with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship match. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. FAU 4, Stetson 2
