Women's Tennis Falls to UMass 5-2

BOCA RATON, FL - In a rescheduled match due to Tuesday's rain, Florida Atlantic University fell to the University of Massachusetts 5-2, on Thursday afternoon. Claudia Kecht and Katherine Bartnik teamed together to capture the no. 1 doubles match, but saw UMass gather no. 2 and no. 3 doubles to take the first point of the match. No. 4 seed Natalia Totevska, who is on an eight match win streak, was sidelined. Pia Terol and Danielle Simone, who normally play no. 5 and 6, respectively, played one seed up and matched the challenge by scoring FAU's two points. Terol captured no. 4 singles with a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3) victory over Dasa Stauimirovic. Simone defeated Maude Lecluyse 6-3, 6-4. Eve Xanthopoulos has played no. 6 and several exhibition matches this season and completed the line-up at six. FAU's record fell to 6-7 on the season and will next play host to Boston College 1 p.m. Saturday at Patch Reef Park. Doubles Results Order of Finish: 2,1,3
