BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University won its second match in as many days in a 7-0 win over Illinois-Chicago Monday in Boca Raton. The win improves the Owls to 4-6 on the year. FAU surrendered a total of eight games in the five singles' matches that were played, all which were won in straight-sets. In doubles action, the only match that was played was at no. 1 with FAU's Alena Dvorakova and Elodie Wendling defeating UIC's Christina Oum and Corey Steven 8-1. Each team split the no. 2 and no. 3 doubles by default. FAU began singles play leading 1-0 and had no problem in clinching the match. Dvorakova defeated Iris Jaklin 6-0, 6-1 at no. 1. Veronika Koksova (FAU) picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Molly Smith at no. 2. At no. 3, Katherine Bartnik defeated Steven 6-0, 6-1. Claudia Kecht, Pia Terol, and Jessica Williams also picked up wins for the Owls.
Florida Atlantic is next in action Thursday when it hosts Texas Tech at 11:00am.
