BOCA RATON - The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's tennis teams saw their two-game conference losing streaks come to end Monday with victories over Atlantic Sun opponents Mercer. The Owl men won 5-2 to improve to 3-5 while the women's 6-1 victory makes them 2-4 on the year. Both are also now 2-2 in conference play.

In the men's win, senior Antonello Magris picked up his first victory of the season at No. 1 singles by defeating Arya Vafaei 6-2, 6-2. Senior F.J. Schofield and sophomores J.P. Bounassar and Mauricio Paiz also picked up singles points, while the Owls won at the second and third doubles positions to take the doubles point.

On the women's side, senior Alena Dvorakova extended her win streak at No. 1 singles to five by easily disposing of Lauriane Auvergne 6-1, 6-1. Other singles points came via victories from senior Veronika Koksova, sophomore Katherine Bartnik, and freshmen Claudia Kecht and Pia Terol. The Owls also swept the doubles matches, losing a total of only five games in the process.

The FAU women return to action on Tuesday when they host Boston University while the men will head to Orlando on Wednesday for a conference contest with Georgia State.

NOTES: Both David Demers (back) and Krystel Borg (ankle) of FAU were forced to retire from their singles matches with injuries.
