Owls Defeat Duquesne 4-3
March 5, 2007 ORLANDO, FL - Freshman Natalia Toteskova captured a three-set match to give the Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team (4-3) a 4-3 victory over Duquesne, on Monday. Once again, the Owls captured the doubles point prior to moving into individual play where the bottom half of the line-up prevailed. Pia Terol was the first to come off the court after defeating Rachel McGowan 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. She was followed by Elodie Wendling and Claudia Kecht who fell in close matches. With the match tied at two, Danielle Simone defeated Alicia McNamara, at No. 6, with a second set tie breaker to give the Owls a 3-2 advantage with two matches yet to finish. Katherine Bartnik dropped a three-set match at No. 3 to even the match once more. With the match on the line and the win streak still alive, FAU's youth prevailed. Natalia Toteskova, who had just six collegiate dual matches under her belt, outlasted Andrea Sailer for the 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) victory and the match. The win streak is the first time FAU has won three-consecutive matches since 2004, also the last time the Owls competed in the NCAA Championships.
