![]() Owls Lose To UM In Season-Opener
Feb. 15, 2005
CORAL GABLES - The 10th-ranked Miami Hurricanes proved to be just too strong for the Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team as the Owls opened their season with a 7-0 loss on Tuesday evening. The closest FAU came to winning a point was at the No. 2 singles position where senior Veronika Koksova fell in three sets to Staci Stevens. Led by the No. 2 singles player in the country, senior Megan Bradley, the Canes (3-2) wrapped up the doubles point by only losing one total game in the three matches. Senior Alena Dvorakova managed to take three games off Bradley at No. 1 singles and only Katherine Bartnik topped that with four games won in a 6-3, 6-1 loss to Caren Seenauth at No. 5 singles. FAU will return to the courts on Thursday when they host conference opponents Jacksonville at 11 a.m. The match is the first of three A-Sun contests in four days for the Owls with UCF (Saturday) and Stetson (Sunday) coming to town as well.
