The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team began its 2001 dual match season Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 loss at the 40th-ranked University of Miami Hurricanes. Kristen Jordan and Tania Rivera posted singles victories for FAU at the number-1 and number-4 positions, respectively. Jordan entered the contest ranked 62nd in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. On the doubles side, FAU's duo of Maria Aguirre-Gomez and Rivera posted a victory at the number-3 position.

The Lady Owls next host FIU Thursday at 1:00pm in their home opener.
