Women's Swimmers Defeat Tampa, Fall to Florida Gulf Coast on Homecoming Weekend

With freshman Eszter Bucz winning three events, the Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving team split dual meets against the University of Tampa and Florida Gulf Coast University on Friday night in Fort Myers. The Owls claimed their second dual meet victory of the season by defeating Tampa 150-143, while losing to the host Eagles 180-112. Bucz posted first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, 1,000-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley events - concluding her first month of collegiate competition with eight event victories and setting a new freshman record in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The Budapest, Hungary native won the 1,000-yard freestyle event by an amazing 20 seconds with a time of 10:11.70. She swam the 400-yard individual medley in 4:24.62 to win that race by 15 seconds. Sophomore Jonna Nyback finished second in the 200-yard freestyle event (1:53.20) and had a third place showing in the 100-yard freestyle. Senior Emilienne Allen grabbed top honors by three seconds in the 500-yard freestyle event to help the team score. Senior Stephanie Goodman posted second-place finishes in the 1- and 3-meter diving events, scoring 222.37 points from the judges in the 3-meter event.
FAU returns to the pool on Friday, November 6, in an exhibition dual meet against Princeton University at the Aquatic Center, located on the Boca Raton campus.
