Myers Makes it Three Straight

April 22, 2002

For the third straight week and the sixth time this year, Florida Atlantic University's Nikki Myers has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week. The senior from St. Petersburg, FL threw two shutouts last week and became the nation's first 30-game winner.

Myers tossed a one-hitter April 19 in a 6-0 win against Georgia State and allowed just three hits in a 1-0 victory over Florida International on April 21. Myers now has 44 career shutouts and is 30-4 this season. She's only the second player in FAU history to win 30 games in a season. Her next victory will break the record set by Liz Niadna in 1998.

Myers has received six of the 11 A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week awards this year. She leads FAU with a 0.62 ERA and has thrown 25 consecutive scoreless innings.

Florida Atlantic is currently ranked no. 10 in the nation and next takes on Stetson in an A-Sun doubleheader April 23 in DeLand, FL.
