NASHVILLE, TN - Nikki Myers threw her 10th career no-hitter and picked up her 100th career victory in a doubleheader sweep of Belmont Sunday afternoon in Nashville, TN. FAU, ranked no. 11 nationally, won the first game 5-3 before picking up a 7-0 victory in game two. The wins extended FAU's winning streak to 12 games and improved the team to 50-7 overall and 13-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The sweep also completed a perfect 6-0 road trip for the Lady Owls.

Myers did it on the mound and at the plate, going 6-for-8 on the day with a home run and two RBIs.

In game one, FAU broke loose in the second inning with three runs on five hits. Callie Piper led off with a single and advanced to third on a double by Ginny Matthews. Both came home to score on a single by Rhianna Rogers. Two outs later, Ninya Ybarra blasted a double to left center to drive in Michelle Shirah and make it 3-0 FAU.

In the seventh, FAU added two insurance runs to make it 5-0. The first scored on a throwing error before Ybarra added an RBI-single.

Candice Freel picked up the win for FAU. The freshman improved to 22-3 on the year while allowing three runs on five hits. She struck out four with no walks. A pair of home runs by the Bruins in the seventh accounted for their three runs.

It took until the fourth inning of game two for either team to score. Myers and Pam Mazzarella led off the inning with singles, and Ginny Matthews later scored pinch-runner Jessica Fernandez on a groundout to put the Lady Owls up 1-0.

In the fifth, Myers crushed her 12th home run to left to give the Lady Owls a 2-0 edge. FAU scored five more times in the seventh as Shirah, Ybarra, Wright, Myers, and Mazzarella all drove in runs.

Myers (28-4) dominated Belmont batters, striking out 15 against just one walk. The shutout was her 14th this season while the no-hitter was her fourth.

In all, FAU outhit Belmont 19-5.

Florida Atlantic next hosts Georgia State April 19 in a 6:00pm doubleheader at FAU Field.
