Feb. 25, 2001 Boca Raton - Florida Atlantic University's softball team lost 1-0 to Florida State in the championship game of the FAU "Worth" Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops FAU to 9-5 on the year and snapped their season-best seven-game winning streak. The Seminoles (17- 3) were ranked 16th nationally heading into the weekend tournament. FAU's Nicole Myers was named Tournament MVP after batting .500 (9-for-18), with two home runs and eight RBI's. She suffered the loss in the championship game after throwing a wild pitch in the sixth inning with two outs and a runner at third base. two more quick outs. Norton, a freshman, went 2-for-2 in the championship game.
Earlier in the day, FAU defeated Maryland 4-1 to advance to the championship game. Kristie Picon pitched a complete-game four-hitter while Myers had a pair of run-scoring singles.
