Coach Dooley Responds

Question from Katie Schmit: Would you ever consider letting one of your players compete on the women's track team in the spring? USF has Jessica Zabel and UCF has Brittany Cushman who both play soccer in the fall and run track in the spring.

A: Lisanne Peart competed with track during her time with the soccer team. If one of our players is able to compete at that level, we would consider it, as long as the track coach will pay for some of the scholarship!

Question from Johanna Smolka: In your opinion what do you think are the biggest differences between U.S. high school/college soccer players and their overseas counterparts?

A: It really depends on which country you are comparing. The U.S. players are more aware of the college game and what it takes to play here. Many of the overseas players are unfamiliar with NCAA eligibility rules. As far as playing ability, the overseas players are generally more mature in their tactical understanding. The U.S. players benefit from the experience of playing with the overseas players as well.

Question from Michelle Solis: How difficult will it be to replace this past years senior class, which included A-Sun Player-of-the-Year, Rhonda Jones?

A: We will never replace, but we will reload! Losing seven players is touch, but the legacy created will continue to grow. Rhonda Jones is a special person. We hope to keep her on staff to held grow the new class.

Question from Dennis White: How is your recruiting effort going? Do you expect any early commitments?

A: Our recruiting is going very well, as you would expect me to say! To date, we have five early commitments with a few more expected. We hope to bring in another goalkeeper and another forward.
