Owls Head to South Carolina for VCU Tournament
Sept. 8, 2005 BOCA RATON, FL -- The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team heads to Richmond, VA, to take part in the VCU Invitational this weekend. The trip comes after a challenging week that included facing the highest-ranked opponent in the history of the program. "We'd like to build off of last weekend. The effort was there, but the results were not," head coach Brian Dooley said. "I thought we played better in the two losses than we did in the two wins. If we keep working hard, we will get the results we want." Florida Atlantic (2-2) will face host VCU on Friday at 7 p.m., and Richmond on Sunday at 11 a.m. "VCU poses as difficult a task as either of our two opponents last weekend," Dooley said. "They are a defending conference champion, and have a lot of experienced veteran players." Last week, the Owls dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Miami and played a strong game against #3 UCLA, holding one of the nation's best teams to a scoreless tie through 70 minutes. The Bruins, however, outlasted the Owls, scoring a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes for a 2-0 win. VCU will stream live audio and statistics over the internet and will also make live video available for its game only. For more information, fans can visit http://vcurams.vcu.edu/multimedia.html.
