March 14, 2005 Day 6: We are officially leaving today, which is a sad day, at least for me. I enjoyed being back on the West Coast and feeling very comfortable in an area. Guess we all had to go back sometime, now or never. So, another reoccurring theme in this journal, we ate at Pergamino one last time, I'm pretty sure everyone had waffles with fresh fruit and a cinnamon bun (those were really good!). So we all piled into the vans again and headed off to the airport. Our first flight was pretty good, although I didn't take it well, a little air sickness to say the least. Our second flight was boarding when we landed so we hurried, again, to our transferring flight to Fort Lauderdale. Some of the girls were starving and we didn't have time to grab a meal so they bought a few snacks at the shop near our gate. Those places are so expensive it's unbelievable!! Finally we were on our plane and I fell asleep for a good hour and a half, maybe two hours when I finally woke up and guess where we were? The same place I fell asleep to... yeah in Dallas. Apparently in Ft. Lauderdale they had horrible weather so they had to delay our flight for two hours until we could take off. Still wasn't feeling too hot so I was upset that I couldn't sleep through the flight. If we had taken off when we were supposed to, we would have been home earlier, but we instead got into Florida around midnight.
Coach said his final words about how he was very happy with the way the trip went and it was one of his most memorable trips. I don't think he was alone. For a lot of the girls it was their first time on the West Coast and for others it was a nice trip to see Cali all over again. Alcatraz, the Cal Berkeley game and seeing my family were probably the most memorable parts of the trip, for me personally. Hope y'all enjoyed this little thing and I hope y'all had a great Spring Break as well. Take care and don't forget to check out the FAU Women's Soccer team next Fall Season in '05! We'll be back, better than ever and looking for a Conference Championship! Go Owls!* |
