Women's Soccer Adds One More

Feb. 28, 2003

BOCA RATON, FL. - Florida Atlantic University has inked one more local women's soccer athlete for the upcoming 2003-soccer season. Cristina Rodriguez has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lady Owls announced head coach Brian Dooley.

Rodriguez, a 5'6" defender from Parkland, FL, plays club soccer for the six-time defending state champions Team Boca with fellow 2003 FAU signee Christina Chang. Rodriguez also plays on the St. Thomas High School soccer team where she was named to the All-County team. She joins the list of players from St. Thomas who have played for the Lady Owls, most notably single-season scoring record holder Trina Maso de Moya and goalkeeper Melissa Cancio.

Rodriguez's signing brings the 2003 signing class total to four. With the Lady Owls losing only three players to graduation from the team that won its first Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season title.
