Nov. 5, 2009

The University of Arkansas-Little Rock loves playing at the FAU Soccer Stadium.

The Trojans clinched a berth in the eight-team field with a late season victory and have continued that success by advancing to the Sun Belt Conference Championship match by defeating four-seed University of North Texas 1-0.

Christina Veasley scored in the 30th minute to give UALR a lead it would not surrender. The first team All-Sun Belt Conference performer slipped behind the defense as a cross from Alison Davis bounced in the middle of the attacking box. Veasley finished just inside the right post and past the diving Mean Green goalkeeper.

Despite being outshot 14-5 in the match the Trojans' had four of those scoring opportunities be on goal.

Jane Picarelli made seven saves to record her second shutout of the tournament. North Texas' Kendall Juett paced the Mean Green offensive attack with four shots in the match.

UALR advances to Saturday's championship match against the winner of the University of Denver and Arkansas State University match.
