FAU Dominates in 4-0 Win Over UALR

Oct. 26, 2007

Box Score

BOCA RATON, FL - Rain poured from the skies throughout the night and the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team poured on the offense in a convincing 4-0 victory against the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday.

Susanna Lehtinen was at her brilliant best, helping Alicia Tirelli on two scoring strikes before adding a goal of her own in a four-point performance (1G, 2A).

Tirelli notched her seventh goal of the season in the game's 41st minute with a chip shot off the crossbar, as the Owls broke through after completely controlling play throughout the first half en route to a 1-0 lead.

The Lehtinen-Tirelli connection sparked a second half scoring explosion for FAU, striking again in the 57th minute. Tirelli extended her team-leading goal total to eight, while Lehtinen added her sixth assist on the play - also a team-best.

Natalie D'Oria found Lehtinen with a pass in the 75th minute, setting up a crisp header for the senior forward's sixth goal of the year.

Monique Cabrera added her first goal of the season, bending a corner kick into the net with just over seven minutes remaining. FAU outshot UALR by a commanding 17-1 margin on the night, holding the Trojans without a shot until the game's final moments.

Florida Atlantic (7-7-2, 4-4-1 Sun Belt) next faces Arkansas State this Sunday at noon. Cabrera, Lehtinen, and Tirelli will be recognized along with fellow seniors Taylor Browning and Michele Fazzari before the contest for their contributions to the women's soccer program.
