Final Stats

The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team kept is postseason chances alive, earning a scoreless draw against Arkansas State University on Friday night at the FAU Soccer Stadium.

The Owls stand 5-10-3 on the season and 3-5-1 in Sun Belt Conference action. FAU entered the weekend in eighth place in the league. The top eight teams earn a spot in next month's conference championships. Arkansas State sits at 6-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in league play.

FAU had a golden opportunity to score during an odd-man rush in the second half. Anhnhi Tran fired a shot from the top right corner of the attacking box. The ball then was misdirected by a Red Wolves defender to the far post. Jamie Greany and Laura Hyvonen were unable to get a foot on the ball with the wide open net.

The visiting Red Wolves also had a chance to find the back of the net in the second half. On one of the 10 corner kick opportunities for Arkansas State the ball bounced off the inside corner of the post, but goalkeeper Ashley Lantes released the ball toward midfield.

Lantes recorded 10 saves in the match to post her fourth shutout of the season. She has had three straight performances of double digit saves in a match.

Jamie Greany paced the offensive attack with a team-high three shots while Janelle Blake, Laura Hyvonen and Tamara Kesser each recorded two shots in the evening. Red Wolves' goalkeeper Susan Brown had four saves in the match.

FAU returns home on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 11:30 a.m. to battle the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. Prior to the match seniors Devon Romak, Alanna Jordan and Nicole Farrell will be honored as it marks the last home regular-season game of their careers.
