Sophomore Jessica Kmiotek scores two goals to lead Lady Owls past Jacksonville State

Jacksonville, FL - ,Jacksonville, FL Sophomore Jessica Kmiotek leads Florida Atlantic to a 2-1 win over Jacksonville State University in the Atlantic Sun play. The lady Owls scored two goals, both by Kmiotek, in a two-and-half minute stretch early in the first half, and then held on to beat Jacksonville State.

Kmiotek's first goal came at the 5:27 mark of the first half with assists going to sophomore Rhonda Jones and freshman Brandi Herrmann. Just a little over two minutes later (7:40) Kmiotek found the back of the net again. The goal was her third of the season and was assisted by freshman Autumn Baur.

Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Keating lost her bid for her fifth shutout of the season when Jacksonville State's Breann Milne scored with 30 seconds to go in the match. Keating made 3 saves to register her seventh win on the season.

With the win FAU improves to 8-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Atlantic Sun. Jacksonville State drops 4-8 overall and 3-5 in A-Sun play.

The Lady Owls will be in action again when they host Mercer University, Thursday, October 18. Game time is scheduled for 7pm.
