Lehtinen Leads Owls Past Bulldogs 4-0

Oct. 9, 2005

Final Stats

BOCA RATON, FL -- Susanna Lehtinen put on an offensive display and the defense put Gardner-Webb's offense on lockdown as the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team picked up a 4-0 victory Sunday.

Lehtinen tallied two goals and two assists to give her 23 points on the season.

The Owl defense allowed just two shots, and only one reached the goal. The Bulldogs didn't register their first shot attempt until the 63rd minute.

Megan Coyne got the start and didn't face a shot. She lowered her NCAA-best goals-against average to 0.13. Her shutout streak has now reached 435 minutes. Jessica Badders played the second-half and made one stop. The shutout was the Owls'10th of the season, just one shy of the program record set in 2002.

Danielle DiLeo and Denise Brolly added second-half tallies for FAU.

The Owls improved to 5-0-1 in A-Sun play and 10-3-1 overall. All 10 of their victories have come via the shutout. They currently sit atop the conference standings.

FAU takes the field in DeLand, FL on Wednesday as they continue conference play against Stetson at 7 p.m.
