Florida Atlantic Edged in Double Overtime by USF

Sept. 21, 2008

Final Stats

TAMPA, FL - Florida Atlantic University had a number of near misses and had two shots on goal saved in the second overtime, eventually falling 1-0 to the University of South Florida Sunday afternoon.

USF (4-2-2) has now played six overtime matches in this season.

FAU (1-5-0) was coming off an inspired second half effort in a loss at Stetson Friday night. On Sunday, shots on goal in the games' late stages by both Sonia Richards and Jannica Tjeder nearly allowed FAU the program's first-ever victory against USF in Tampa.

"It was really a great effort today," said FAU head coach Brian Dooley. "Our record may not show it but we are starting to find ourselves. We had some good opportunities today and defended extremely well."

The Owls return to action Friday night, September 26 at FAU Field on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road, against SBC rival Western Kentucky University.
