Women's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Tie

Sept. 18, 2004

Box Score

Florida Atlantic University played to a 1-1 tie with the University of South Florida on Saturday afternoon in the final match of a two-game road trip. FAU's goal came in the 19th minute of play when Danielle DiLeo headed in a pass from Christina Chang.

In the first half FAU (2-2-2) controlled the match by allowing only one USF shot, while DiLeo (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) gave FAU the lead with her first goal of the season and fourth of her career. It was only the third time this season that Florida Atlantic found the back of the net before its opponent.

The Lady Bulls (1-2-2) came out in the second half to outshoot FAU 15-3 and tie the score six minutes into the half on an Erica Lewis penalty kick.

Goalkeeper Megan Coyne (Marysville, WA) finished the match with nine saves, while her counterpart Breck Bankester finished with six.

The team will try to rebound from an 0-1-1 trip to head to North Carolina and face A-Sun opponents Gardner-Webb and Campbell on Thursday and Saturday.
