![]() FAU women's soccer wins in overtime

Miami, FL - ,,Miami, FL Florida Atlantic women's soccer team wins tightly contested match against Northern Illinois, 1-0 in overtime, at the Florida International Tournament.
In a game that was delayed 30-minutes due to lighting, the two teams battled through 90-minutes of regulation time before Florida Atlantic could find the back of the net. FAU sophomore Rhonda Jones headed in a ball off a corner kick from freshmen Kelly Hoffmann at 94:10 to send the Owls to victory.
The goal was Jones' second of the season and first game winner. Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Keating played the entire match and recorded 3 saves in the win.
"Rhonda Jones was the heart and soul of our team today," commented Coach Dooley. "Rhonda was winning balls, chasing people back on defense and then finally was able to finish a ball off a corner kick to give us a victory. Rhonda was everywhere."
With the victory FAU moves to 3-2 on the season, while Northern Illinois fell to 0-3-1.
FAU's next two games are home. The University of Central Florida travels to FAU on Friday, September 14, for a 7pm game, followed by South Florida on Sunday, September 16, at 2pm.
