FAU women's soccer loses second game

Sept. 7, 2001

Miami, FL - Miami, Fl. Florida Atlantic Women' Soccer team drops a 3 - 0 decision to Tennessee Tech in the first round of the Florida International Tournament.

Tennessee Tech scored one goal in the first half and two in the second, then held on to shut-out FAU.

Tennessee Tech opened the scoring at 36:35 of the first half on a goal by Bryn Sanders. Sanders hit a right-footed shot off the post and past FAU goalkeeper Molly Keating for a 1-0 lead.

The goal by Sanders held up until the 71:45 mark when Kylie Hammer score off a scramble in front of the FAU goal. Assisting on the goal was Alicia Burt. Angela Freund finished the scoring at 85:23 with an unassisted goal.

FAU held a 12 - 10 shot advantage but could not find the back of the net.

With the loss, FAU falls to 2-2 on the season.

FAU will play again Sunday, September 9, against Northern Illinois in the second round of the Florida International Tournament.
