Owls In Second Place After Round One

Sept. 16, 2005

Daytona Beach, FL -- After one round of the Bethune-Cookman College Invitational, Florida Atlantic University is in second-place with a mark of 318.

Owls' freshman Praewnapa Phol-uayporn shot an opening round score of 76 and is just two shots back of the leader. The Thailand native shot a 40 on the front-nine, but settled down to shoot a 36 on the back-nine.

"I think she was a little nervous at first," head coach Joan Joyce said. "She may have been suffering from the freshman jitters, but I have confidence in her that she will continually improve."

Junior Sandi MacDougall posted a mark of 77 on the day and June Bolme finished with a score of 80.

Bethune-Cookman is currently in first place with a team score of 304.
