FAU Sixth at 31st Annual Pat Bradley Invitational

Oct. 29, 2008

Results

FORT MYERS, FL- Cold and windy conditions made for a less than ideal outing at the 31st Annual Pat Bradley Invitational at Pelican Preserve Golf Club (par 72/6,118 yards) in Ft. Myers, Florida. The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team finished sixth out of 13 teams and behind Sun Belt Conference opponent, tournament host and winner Florida International University (291, 291, 302-884). However, FAU did beat conference challenger Middle Tennessee State University (309, 298, 324-931).

FAU (299, 308, 315- 922) was tied for fifth at the end of two rounds, but faced a stiff head wind in their final round and fell by four strokes to fifth place Texas A&M Corpus-Christi (305, 306, 307-918). FAU has finished in the top 10 in each of its' three tournaments this fall and had an individual in the top 5 in every tournament. Speaking of FAU's play this season, head coach Joan Joyce commented "I think we are playing fairly consistent. We have been under 300 several times. We have been right at 300 most rounds, but definitely have room to improve."

Behind a superb par-5 scoring average (4.83), Senior Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn (Bangkok, Thailand) was the top FAU golfer for the second consecutive tournament, finishing fifth overall. Karine Bolme (Oslo, Norway), Kim D'Andrea (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul II), Jennifer Norton (Port St. Lucie, FL/ Lincoln Park Academy) and Elisabetta Bertini (Novara, Italy) were the other Owl representatives.

The FAU women's golf squad will be back in action at the Stetson Invitational in Deland, FL on Monday, November 3 and Tuesday, November 4.
