DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team claimed its first tournament championship of the season Sunday, winning the Xavier Invitational held at LPGA International.

The two-day event was split into three rounds on the par 72 6,225-yard course, with rounds one and two taking place Saturday and final round play on Sunday.

FAU edged runner-up Coastal Carolina by three strokes, turning in an impressive final round combined score of 295 (+7) for a three-round final of 906 (+42). Missouri State and Tennessee-Chattanooga followed closely behind, tied for third at 910 (+46).

Senior June Bolme continued her strong play, placing third with a score of 221 (+5) and finishing just three strokes behind tournament champion Ann Maness of Coastal Carolina. The Oslo, Norway native saw her scores improve with each round of play, topping the field with a final round-best 71 (-1). Bolme was tied for the top spot in par 4 scoring with a 4.13 average (+4), logging seven birdies and 36 pars over 54 holes.

Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn tied for sixth at 223 (+7), regrouping from an opening-round 78 (+6) to fire consecutive rounds of 73 (+1) and 72 (E). Phol-Uayporn was second in par 5 scoring at 4.67 (-4) and registered nine birdies for the event. It was the junior's third consecutive top-six performance, after posting back-to-back runner-up finishes to start the season.

Kimberly D'Andrea and Gina Larsen tied for 26th at 232 (+16), while Karine Bolme finished the scoring for FAU tied for 67th place with a 249 (+33). Larsen also tied for fifth in par 4 scoring, averaging 4.23 strokes (+7).
 

 

Florida Atlantic next travels to Pelican Preserve Golf Club in Naples, FL for the 30th annual Pat Bradley Invitational, hosted by Florida International University on October 29-30.
