Oct. 7, 2009 The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team finished in ninth place in the University of South Florida Waterlefe Invitation on Monday and Tuesday recording three consistent scores. The Owls recorded a 312 team score during the last round of the 17-team event held at the 5,998-yard par 72 Waterlefe Golf Club layout. Nova Southeastern University claimed the team title by six strokes of the tournament's defending champion Campbell University. The host Bulls finished in third place. Individually, Elisabetta Bertini shot three rounds in the 70s to lead the team's effort. She finished in a tie for 35th place overall for the 54 hole event and carded a three-over-par 75 during the second round. Bertini shot a 78 during Tuesday's final round. Brooke McBoyle recorded a 75 in the second round to finish in 43rd place overall. Jennifer Norton improved during each round and carded a 75 in the final round to finish one stroke behind McBoyle. Rounding out the team score was Anna Wiklund, who shot her lowest round of the season at 76 on Tuesday and Karine Bolme recorded the lowest individual score for the week with a two-over-par 74 in the first round. FAU will return to the links on Friday, October 9 as it participates in the three-day Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Owls won the event back in 2007. Team Scores:
