Women's Golf Team One Stroke Off Lead At Eagles Golf Invitational Heading Into Final Round

Posting the lowest second round, the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team has put itself in contention for the season-opening Eagles Golf Invitational title. The Owls stand just one shot off the lead heading into Tuesday's final round at Miromar Lakes Golf Club. The Owls shot a 309 in the second 18 holes on the 6,036-yard par 72 layout near Fort Myers to trail Bethune-Cookman College by one stroke after the 36 holes were played on Monday. Bethune-Cookman leads with a 625 team score, while FAU stands at 626, Jacksonville University is at 627 and the host college, Florida Gulf Coast, is at 635. Individually, FAU's Gina Larsen carded the team's best two-round score of 156, including a five-over-par 77 during the second round. She is in eighth place headed into the final round. Jennifer Norton shot a one-over-par 73 on Monday to vault into a ninth place tie with teammates Elisabetta Bertini and Marilyne Cadieux -- all with 158 scores. Anna Wiklund rounds out the scoring in 13th place (162) after two consistent rounds. The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. and marks the season opening event for Florida Atlantic.
