Women's Golf 12 Shots Back at A-Sun Championship

April 15, 2002

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - Florida Atlantic University shot a 319 in Monday's first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. The Lady Owls stand in fourth-place among the 11-team field at the 6,042-yard, par-73 Mission Inn-El Campeon Course. Jessica Polus led FAU on Monday with a two-over par 75 and is in fourth-place individually.

Central Florida leads the field with a 307 followed by Georgia State at 315 and Campbell at 316. FAU holds a 12-shot lead over fifth-place Jacksonville State.

Other scores for FAU included a 79 from Natalia Navarro. Jessica Carafiello fired an 81 while Heidi von Korff and Jaclyn Lucas turned in an 84 and 86, respectively.

Round two continues Tuesday followed by Wednesday's final round. The team winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
