Daytona Beach, FL. - For the second consecutive year a member of the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team finished in the top four individually in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Championships. Anne Fraser was the only player to finish under par and holds a two-stroke lead after the first round at Indigo Lakes Golf Club while Amanda Pettit shot her lowest round of the year and finished in a tie for fourth on the par 72, 5942-yard course. The Lady Owls shot a team round 309 and stand in fourth place after the first day.

Fraser, fresh off of her first win of the spring, shot a front nine 36 and a back nine 35 to finish with a one-under par 71 and the lead after the first round. Pettit, in fourth place, fired a 37 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine to finish with a three-over par 75. Last year, Jessica Polus finished fourth after the first round of the A-Sun Championships and became the eventual A-Sun champion. Natalia Navarro shot an opening round 81 while Heidi von Korff and Jessica Carafiello fired an 82 and 86 respectively.

Georgia State (298) leads after shooting the only team score under 300 but the Lady Owls are only 11-strokes behind. Jacksonville State (305), University of Central Florida (307) and Campbell University (312) round out the top five.

Round two continues Tuesday, April 15, followed by Wednesday's final round.
