Feb. 25, 2003

Complete Results

Orlando, FL. - The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team improved five strokes from yesterday but it was not enough as the team finished fourth out of eight teams at the UCF Invitational at Stoneybrook Country Club. The Lady Owls shot a team round of 311 and a two-round total of 627 on the 5919-yard par 72 course.

Anne Fraser led FAU with a final round 75, a three stroke improvement from the previous day, and finished nine over par 153 to place seventh. Natalia Navarro continued to play consistently as the Columbia native finished in a tie for eighth place and shot a 78 for the second consecutive day to close the tournament at 12-over par. Jessica Carafiello rebounded from a tough first day to fire a round of 78 to push her into the top-20 for the first time this semester while freshman Kendall Kirby, playing in only her second round of collegiate golf, shot a final round 82 to finish with a two-day total of 161. Heidi von Korff shot a final round 80 to finish with a two round total of 164.

The Lady Owls had its best team round of the tournament but it was not enough to overcome the 12-stroke deficit that they began the day in. Rollins College, who was in third place yesterday, shot a tournament best round of 301 to finish the two round tournament one stroke ahead of Florida Southern (615) and the University of Miami (615). Tournament host UCF finished fifth with a score of 631.

FAU's next tournament will be the Hatter Spring Fling starting Monday, March 24, 2003 in DeLand, FL.
