FAU Women's Basketball Signs Three New Players

Nov. 14, 2007

Florida Atlantic University head coach Chancellor Dugan announces the signing of three new players for the 2008-09 season.

FAU signed 5-7 point guard Teri Stamps from Vincent High School in Milwaukee, WI. Stamps averaged just under 16 points per game last season.

"Teri is coming off of a state championship and could win another one before she gets here," said Dugan. "She is a lock down defensive player, she can run the break and is a scoring threat."

FAU went out of state again to find 5-9 guard Breana Turner from New Orleans, LA (De La Salle HS). Turner averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game last season for De La Salle. She is a two time All-Metro league player, won the school's "most outstanding athlete" award as a junior, and was one of only two New Orleans area players to be named honorable mention All-State in Louisiana.

"Bre is going to be counted on as soon as she gets in the door," said Dugan. "She is a great pull up jump shooter and can get to the rim and finish strong."

"Breana has been our best player the last two years here (at De La Salle)," said De La Salle high school coach Nancy Walsh. "She just does what's asked of her and I know she'll do well at Florida Atlantic."

The second FAU signing was found through the junior college ranks. The Owls signed 6-3 center Jessica Knurick from Seminole Community College. Prior to attending Seminole, Knurick played the post position at Oakland University in Michigan.

"Jess is going to be counted on right away," said Dugan. "With her size and the way she posts up she fits our style of play."
